This picture was taken today in Kennebunkport, Maine, vacation retreat of the Bush family.
Here's some questions I had after seeing this picture.
Is McCain wearing a seatbelt?
Is HW wearing a turtleneck? In July?
Is there a reason people can't touch HW's golf cart besides the whole security thing?
Could this picture be worse for McCain if 43 was driving instead?
The answer to all these questions is YES. The last one's a MAYBE.
Here's one more question. If this is where McCain was today, where was Obama?
Here:
In Iraq, meeting with Centcom Commander Petraeus and with the Prime Minister of Iraq (who over the weekend announced his desire to see American troops out of Iraq by 2010, which just happens to be Obama's--and the majority of Americans'--desire as well. Though not McCain's).
Yes, it's superficial. One guy's really photogenic and one guy appears to be holding Bob Dole's pen, but I know a lot of people who vote on a lot less than these kinds of optics. So when I saw these two pictures side by side here, I felt a bit confident. Not cocky, just . . . confident.
We're going to win in November, folks. War is over, if you want it.
*Yes, I know Obama's not going to get HW's golfcart when he wins the White House. I don't think he'd want it anyway.
